Privacy and Data-Processing Policy
Thank you for choosing my services, Crystelle Mills-Smith, French to English Language Service Provider. Protecting your privacy and personal information is of the utmost importance to me. This Privacy Policy outlines the way in which I collect, use, disclose and protect your information.
Purpose of data processing
There is no need to provide personal data when visiting my website. However, if you are interested in my services and get in touch via my contact form some personal data has to be collected as part of that process.
I collect, store and use such personal data for the following purposes:
- To issue quotes,
- To provide the services requested (translation, editing, proof-reading),
- To issue invoices
- To comply with legal requirements.
I do not use your personal data for marketing purposes, nor do I disclose it to unauthorised third parties.
Types of data processed
I may hold the following personal data:
- Contact details such as name, postal address, email address, telephone number;
- Information contained in documents sent to me for the purposes of translating, editing and/or proof-reading;
- Any additional information associated with these tasks.
The data in question will be retained throughout the business relationship only, or for the length of time stipulated to comply with legal and tax obligations.
How long do I keep this data?
Where work (translation/editing/proof-reading) is carried out, your personal data will be retained for the period required to comply with tax obligations and also to comply with legal limitation periods where applicable. Retention times for all data will be reviewed on a regular basis.
How your data is processed and security measures
I take all possible precautionary measures to protect your personal data.
The equipment used for storing and processing personal data is updated as frequently as possible. Anti-virus software is installed to prevent the theft or destruction of this information and is kept up to date.
During the performance of a translation, editing and/or proof-reading task, copies of the relevant documentation are stored on a password-protected laptop and/or password-protected desktop computer. Archived documents are stored on a desktop computer, and selected documents are backed up to an off-site provider. This provider is also compliant with the EU General Data Protection regulation. In the case of particularly sensitive information documents may be password-protected and/or redacted for extra security. Email correspondence, including any attached files, is stored in separate folders in my email software. Paper copies of any documentation printed during the course of my work will be shredded on completion.
What are your rights?
I take all possible precautionary measures to guarantee the security, integrity and confidentiality of your personal data in compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, in relation to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data.
Under the relevant data protection legislation, you have the right to access your data, the right to request that I rectify, erase or restrict processing of your data, the right to object to the processing of your data and the right to data portability (subject to certain conditions). I must respond within one calendar month to any request you make to exercise these rights. If at any point, you feel that I have mishandled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the UK Supervisory Authority, the ICO. Their website can be found at www.ico.org.uk
Use of cookies
This website uses cookies to implement Google Analytics sets this cookie to store and count page views. Google Analytics sets this cookie to calculate visitor, session and campaign data and track site usage for the site’s analytics report. The cookie stores information anonymously and assigns a randomly generated number to recognise unique visitors.

This website also includes links to my Facebook and LinkedIn accounts and professional affiliation profiles. These features are provided by the third-party social media platforms themselves.
