CPD
Continued Professional Development
Investing in my professional development
I believe investing in my professional development benefits my clients as I am continuously honing my skills as a translator and developing subject knowledge. CPD is also a requirement to retain my Chartered Linguist (Translator) status and is strongly encouraged by the Institute of Translation and Interpreting. Examples of CPD I undertake include:
- Attending formal workshops, both in person and online, to work on translation, editing and language skills
- Attending translation conferences,
- Being part of a translation revision club with a couple of colleagues working in the same language pair, which involves meeting up online to discuss our translations of the same text,
- Attending webinars on a wide range of subjects,
- Informal networking with colleagues,
- Reading books, magazines, newspapers and listening to the radio and podcasts in French.

I am a firm believer in helping the next generation of translators. I have taken part in ITI mentoring schemes and I have also given presentations at a local secondary school and a sixth form college about my work and working with languages more generally.
